Production Company Fires Back at Rebecca Black

Friday is suddenly a lot less fun for Rebecca Black.

A day after the singer's team filed to have the 13-year old's infamous video yanked off YouTube, due to a feud with Ark Music, the production company has issued its own statement on the topic.

Rebecca Black Pic

"We’re disappointed, having been in good faith negotiations with Rebecca Black and her representatives for months regarding any open issues," a rep told TMZ. "There’s been an ongoing, open dialogue with our company. So we were blindsided to get a Take Down Notice... alleging copyright infringement instead of a call or email from Rebecca’s representatives.

"We are going to continue to take the high road and work out the complaint as soon as possible."

Between this back-and-forth, and the backlash against Black in general, the teenager may be realizing that the entertainment business is not so fun after all.

Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes: "Rock of Ages" Cast Party!

After spending the day splashing in the Atlantic with daughter Suri, Katie Holmes joined up with husband Tom Cruise for a fun-filled Saturday night (June 18) in Miami, Florida.

Looking very much in love, the "Dawson's Creek" darling lovingly wrapped her arms around her "Top Gun" hunk as the twosome headed to Larios On The Beach for a "Rock of Ages" cast party.

Among Cruise's co-stars partaking in the sunshine state get-together were beautiful actresses Julianne Hough and Malin Akerman, as well as handsome actor Diego Boneta.

As for their movie, the Adam Shankman directed project tells the story of "a small-town girl who arrives in Hollywood at the height of the 1980s rock-music scene."

The Broadway musical based picture also stars Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Alec Baldwin and Catherine Zeta-Jones with a release date set for June 1, 2012.

'American Idol' In 60 Seconds: Scotty McCreery Wins It For The Kids

As the youngest top two in 'Idol' history awaited their fates, the guest-stars got a little dirty for the finale.

"American Idol" season 10 has drawn to a close, and while Scotty McCreery was still digesting all that confetti he ate on Wednesday night, we here at MTV News were working around the clock to bring you news from the big finale, including Thursday's "Idol Party Live" (streaming live right here on MTV.com at 12 p.m. ET) and "Idol" in 60 Seconds, the script of which you can peruse below while you watch the video:

On Tuesday night, Fox televised a Southern junior high school talent show. Yes, season 10 came down to Scotty McCreery and his smirk versus Lauren Alaina and her doctor. There were songs about teenage love, and moms, and the civil war and ... I'm so sorry, guys, I'm trying, but me and country music go together like Haley Reinhart and pants.

On Wednesday, producers booked only the biggest, most contemporary pop stars for the big finish: Gaga, Beyoncé, Tony Bennett, Tom Jones ... Gaga, Beyoncé.

And after every guest star from stage and screen and total f---ing catastrophe [shot of "Spider-man"] finished their cameo, Ryan Seacrest did this. [Montage of Seacrest plugging all the guest stars' projects.]

Wow, if "Idol" did this good a job promoting their own artists, Lee DeWyze might be selling records.

Unless you were a fan of James Durbin's armpits, the night was really all about the big winner, Scotty, and runner-up Lauren, the two youngest "Idol" finalists ever, so producers made this finale especially family-friendly.

[Gaga gets busy with a dancer.] [J.Lo shakes her booty.] [Beyoncé sings, "Let's make love! Make love!"]

Or not. But give "Idol" some credit for still trying to kickstart David Archuleta's puberty.

Ding!

Don't miss a special edition of "Idol Party Live" Thursday at noon on MTV.com for analysis, finale red-carpet coverage and the last "Idol in 60 Seconds" of season 10. Lady Gaga's 'Edge Of Glory' Video: Glory Days

Remember, for a while there, when everyone was complaining that Lady Gaga's videos had, perhaps, gotten too big, too arty, too obtuse? That maybe the hype surrounding each clip's premiere overshadowed the clip itself? Well, for the foreseeable future, those criticisms can be put to rest.

Because on Thursday (June 16), Gaga premiered her brand-new video for "The Edge of Glory," a piece that's a little bit Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach," a little bit Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" and a whole lot of " '80s videos where someone dances on a fire escape while smoke pours from a well-lit window."

There is no hyperkinetic, women-in-prison kink, no odes to Weimar Germany and no birthing of a machine gun. Shoot, there's not even a single Christian allegory to be seen (OK, maybe one, when Gaga strikes a Christ-like pose on the concrete).

Instead, "Edge" is little more than five-and-a-half minutes of classic pop, brimming with imagery, style (and moves) that could've been lifted from millions of videos in the pop heyday of the 1980s. It is Gaga's free-spirited youth in New York's East Village, only reimagined on a Hollywood level (in another nod to the videos of yesteryear, it makes no attempt to hide the fact that it was clearly shot on a "New York"-styled backlot): She sashays and struts on a fire escape, descends to the perfectly foggy, still-wet streets of the city, and poses on the front steps of her apartment building, while none other than Clarence Clemons hits a note-perfect saxophone solo. It is a fantasy in every conceivable way, and if it reminds you of something you've seen before, well, that's because you probably did — not just in '80s vids, but in films like "Fame" and Broadway hits like "Rent," too — and chances are you loved it.

And while all the feel-good nostalgia is dampened a bit by the very of the moment drama surrounding the video (Clemons is currently recovering from a stroke he suffered over the weekend), "Edge of Glory" still manages to shine, mostly because of its simplicity. You wanted a straightforward, dance-till-you-drop, unabashedly-indebted video from Lady Gaga? Well, now you've got one. It's not a stretch to call it a classic, mostly because, well, it is — at least in its inspirations. And its aspirations too.

What did you think of the video? Let us know in the comments!
