Beyonce Shares Her Love For Frank Ocean, Kanye West

B shares how Jay-Z and his collaborators influenced her chart-topping 4.

Beyoncé has said that she was "inspired by every type of genre" of music while making 4. But in a recent interview, she spoke in detail about how husband Jay-Z and other hip-hop artists became sonic touchstones while she recorded her fourth solo album.

"Jay had a CD playing in the car one Sunday when we were driving to Brooklyn," she tells Complex about hearing Odd Future's Frank Ocean, who co-wrote the 4 track "I Miss You." "I noticed his tone, his arrangements, and his storytelling. I immediately reached out to him — literally the next morning. I asked him to fly to New York and work on my record."

She also chose to work with Kanye West (who eventually produced "Party") after she heard "Runaway," which she admits, made her cry. "The fact that he's belting out his pain, his confusion, and his anger, with no pre-written lyrics, was so moving," she explained of her husband's frequent collaborator. "He's singing his heart out for five minutes. He is so vulnerable. I love when an artist can be so honest."

Of course, B acknowledged the direct influence of Jay's own work too. "Jay's music is more than music. His lyrics have fathered generations," she told the magazine. "All that he has overcome gives millions so much hope. There are moments when I see his lips moving, and I can see lyrics floating above his head, and I think, 'Wow! How did I get so lucky to be able to witness this level of genius so closely?' "

Beyoncé released her album in a season dominated by strong female voices, but she doesn't want any part in conversations that pit her against other divas.

"There is room on this earth for many queens," she said. "I have an authentic, God-given talent, drive and longevity that will always separate me from everyone else. I've been fortunate to accomplish things that the younger generation of queens dream of accomplishing. I have no desire for anyone else's throne. I am very comfortable in the throne I've been building for the past 15 years.

"I just want my legacy to be great music," she later added. "Someone who was a risk taker and someone who had songs that struck conversation and emotion."

Having one of the year's most anticipated albums means fans will eat up any morsel of new info they can get their hands on about its release. Via his Life + Times website, instead of an audio sneak peek, Jay-Z has revealed a visual look into the creation of Watch the Throne in the form of more than 20 photos taken during the recording of his collaborative album with Kanye West.

In the pictures, besides Yeezy and Hova, a number of celebrities are seen milling about as the two hip-hop stars were going about creating their album. Some of the familiar faces include rapper/producer Pharrell Williams and Jay-Z's wife, Beyoncé.

CHECK OUT EXCLUSIVE STUDIO PHOTOS.

In one particular photo, Kanye is seen looking down at a yellow pad that appears to have a track list for the album. Earlier this week, the official Watch the Throne track list was also revealed on Jigga's site.

Watch the Throne was recorded across a few continents, including Europe and Australia. At least some of the photos were taken in New York City's Mercer Hotel, where parts of the album were recorded and where Jay-Z held an exclusive listening session of the album last week for select media, including MTV News. During the same session, Jay also confirmed that part of the album was recorded at NYC's Tribeca Grand Hotel.

At the listening event, Jay-Z spoke about being in awe of the people who gathered around the room he was sitting in, much like the assembled journalists, while he and Kanye were creating songs. Some of the notables he remembered stopping by off the top of his head included Academy Award winner Russell Crowe, Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci, who designed the album-cover artwork, and heralded fashion designer Phoebe Philo.

Although the release date is still unconfirmed, Watch the Throne appears to be set to drop August 2.

Camille Grammer: Sorry For Penis Remark, Still Not a Fan of Kelsey However

Camille Grammer says she regrets disparaging Kelsey Grammer's small penis, but make no mistake, she is still bitter toward her former husband.

The Real Housewife tells TMZ: "While the media added words and blew it out of proportion, I acknowledge my part in this and regret my remarks."

"Some joking remarks I made to Kyle Richards got picked up and caused my ex-husband great embarrassment and for that I sincerely apologize."

Camille goes on to complain that she wants to settle their differences and move on with her life, "but Kelsey just seems to want to fight this."

Specifically, she claims "I offered a 50/50 physical split with joint custody and was soundly rejected." Moreover, he's cut off communication.

"I fear the message we're sending our children," says the former Mrs. Grammer. "Now he will only communicate with me through lawyers."

Or Katye Walsh, who responded to the remark about Kelsey's package by insinuating that perhaps Camille's vadge just wasn't getting it done.

Lady Gaga will sit down with Jean Paul Gaultier in the designer's Paris studio for an upcoming special set to air on the CW this September, during which she will talk about her control over her image and her beloved Little Monsters.

The channel announced that the singer and the designer will appear in the interview special, called "Gaga by Gaultier," airing on September 12 from 8 to 9:15 p.m. The program will be followed by "The CW 2011 Fall Preview Special," hosted by "Nikita" star Maggie Q and "Ringer" star Kristoffer Polaha, Reuters reports.

Gaga recently shared that her highly anticipated video for "You and I" will drop as her 1,000th tweet. As of press time, Gaga had written 991 tweets, making her nine away from the video's premiere.

The video was shot in Nebraska, and Gaga shared that it's about the lengths one goes to when he or she is in love. "It was actually kind of perfect the way it worked out 'cause the premise of the video is that I've walked all the way from New York City to Nebraska to get him back," she said. "I'm walking with no luggage and no nothing, and it's just me and my ankles are bleeding a little bit and there's grass stuck in my shoes and I've got this outfit on and it's real sort of New York clothing and I'm sprinting.

"And the [video is about the] idea that when you're away from someone you love, it's torture," she continued. "I knew I wanted the video to be about me sprinting back and walking hundreds of thousands of miles to get him back."

Jay-Z And Kanye's 'Otis' Video: What Does It Mean?

MTV News gathers a group of tastemakers to break down the clip, which features a mutilated Maybach, fireworks and a huge American flag.

Who knew destroying a Maybach could be so fun? In Jay-Z and Kanye West's new Spike Jonze-directed video for "Otis," the Throne give the luxury vehicle the chop-shop treatment and then do doughnuts with reckless abandon.

"Have you ever seen Jay-Z look that young or that happy?" Jeff Rosenthal from the sketch-comedy group It's the Real said when MTV News gathered a group of tastemakers to preview the "Otis" video, which premiered Thursday on MTV.

"I like that it definitely has that Spike Jonze look. I like that they totally make a Batmobile out of a Maybach," his brother and comedy partner Eric added. "They do have a lot of fun, which is awesome."

Read what some hip-hop DJs had to say about "Otis" as an unconventional single.

Model Tahiry José knows a thing or two about video sets herself, having appeared in 50 Cent's "Think About Me" and Fat Joe's "(Ha Ha) Slow Down" clip. Initially, she wasn't impressed with the video, but the longer she thought about it, the more she appreciated the video's carefree attitude — especially after rumors surfaced that the Throne weren't seeing eye to eye. "It must've not been easy in the studio," she said. "But they do look like they're having a lot of fun."

Yes, tearing apart a car that costs at least $300,000 is a gaudy display — even more so after considering the current economic crisis the U.S. is facing. New York's Power 105 radio host Charlamagne Tha God saw some meaning behind Hov and Kanye's actions in the video. "That's what I think the whole stripping down of the Maybach represents: the fact that, 'Yo, we're stripping down this whole luxury that's around us, this whole super aura that's around us, and we're just strippin' it down to the bare bones.' "

See what industry experts predict Watch the Throne will sell in its first week.

Ultimately, the song's lyrics, which Kanye described as both "luxury rap" and "sophisticated ignorance" in his second verse, is just a reflection of the duo's reality. The display of wealth doesn't bother the radio host. "What do you want Jay-Z and Kanye West to rap about — being broke? They're rich!" Charlamagne said.

AllHipHop.com CEO Chuck Creekmur appreciated the video's minimalist vibe. Aside from the tricked-out 'Bach, there were a few pyrotechnics, a large American flag, a few models and not much else. "A lot of times you can overdo it and have a bunch of special effects and blue screens, green screens," he said. "I thought it was cool that it was just Jay and Kanye and they looked like they were genuine, just having regular fun like extremely wealthy people do, destroying things out of all of our price range like it was nothing."

Brian "B.Dot" Miller from hip-hop blog Rap Radar likened "Otis" to Jay-Z's 1998 video for "Money Ain't a Thing," in which he and Jermaine Dupri raced expensive whips for cash. "I liked it. I think that was probably the most expensive low-budget video of all time," he joked. "The Maybach alone paid for the video itself. It looks like they had a good time. Makes me want to go home and take the roof off the Nissan."

Another key scene has Hov and Yeezy in front of an America flag, similar to the one Givenchy designer Ricardo Tisci used in the design for the "Otis" single cover. As they stand, with red, white and blue in the background, Jay and Kanye trade rhymes and playfully shove each other while holding up the diamond sign, a hand symbol synonymous with their early Roc-A-Fella Records days.

"They're two brothers that made it in this country, so why not represent our flag?" Charlamagne said.

Creekmur agreed, stating that the "Otis" video in all its in-your-face lavishness is nothing more than a celebratory dance after all the duo's regal accomplishments. "I think the American flag represents the possibilities, if you look at Jay-Z's history, Kanye's history and how much they've overcome," he said.
